SafeWork NSW Prepare a Work Zone Traffic Management Plan
We are SafeWork NSW Approved to deliver Traffic Control Work Training
This course provides the skills and knowledge required for individuals responsible for developing traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes to perform a preliminary risk assessment of a temporary traffic management site and select, modify and design traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes.
The program is suited to experienced traffic control/management operators.
Successful completion of this training will result in the attainment of the nationally accredited unit of competency:
- RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process
- RIICWD503E Prepare traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes
Course Outline:
Participants attend face to face training for 2 days, consisting of theory and practical activities, and written assessments. Upon satisfactory completion of training, a Statement of Completion (SOC) will be issued to confirm that the participant has completed the training and achieved the competency level required to carry out the work under workplace supervision.
SOC’s are valid for 90 days from date of issue and during this time, the participants implement their newly learned skills by completing a workplace based project.
Please note: Additional costs may be incurred for re-assessment or retraining, should satisfactory completion not achieved within the 90 days.

This course does not qualify a participant to control traffic with a stop/slow bat or boom gate, or to modify existing traffic control plans. See our Combined Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control Plans brochure.

Public courses are held regularly at our Thornton training centre, centrally located near Newcastle, Maitland, Central Coast and the Hunter.
Students must arrive at 8:00am sharp to complete the pre-course administration. Training will commence at 8:30am. Please read your course confirmation for further information about what you should bring with you on the day.
